Alphonso mango got it's name from a Portuguese general & military expert "Alphonse de Albuquerque". In 2006 George. W. Bush tried an Alphonso Mango during his first visit to Inida. After having it, he said to the then prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh that it was “a hell of a fruit’, the best he ever tasted.
